Two hundred community members who won free tours of Ten Chimneys, and more than 100 volunteers, donors, and friends, gathered at Ten Chimneys on Saturday, May 26th, 2012 to celebrate Wisconsin State Ten Chimneys Day.
The State of Wisconsin officially recognizes May 26th of every year as Ten Chimneys Day, paying tribute to the historic significance of Ten Chimneys and the ongoing impact of Ten Chimneys Foundation. The day celebrates the anniversary of the marriage of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne (1922), the anniversary of Ten Chimneys' opening to the public as a world-class house museum and national resource for theatre and the arts (2003), and the anniversary of Ten Chimneys' dedication as a National Historic Landmark (2004).
Warm thanks are extended to Shully’s Cuisine & Events for their generous donation of cake, champagne, and full (and always excellent) event service. Thanks to Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. for providing the coffee – Alfred Lunt’s Blend, of course. And, thank you to members of the Knightwind Ensemble – Albert Abena, Pam Harrison, Faith Johnson, and Sue Stachelski – for sharing their musical talents during our celebration. We would like to acknowledge the elected officials in attendance for their continued support of Ten Chimneys: Senator Mary Lazich, Representative Stephen Nass, Genesee Chairwoman Sharon Leair, and Walworth County Clerk of Circuit Courts Sheila Reiff.
