Angela Brazil
Trinity Repertory Company
Providence, RI
It's with great pleasure that I write in support of Trinity's resident artist, Angela Brazil, to attend the Ten Chimneys convening this summer.
Angela has been a member of our resident company since 2000, and she has been a leading actress in dozens of productions, including the title characters in Becky Nurse of Salem, The Heidi Chronicles, and Veronica Meadows, as well as Lady Anne in Richard III, Emelia in Othello, Scout in To Kill A Mockingbird, Hildy Johnson in His Girl Friday, and Sugar in Tiny Beautiful Things, among many others. Her range is vast - from Shakespeare to contemporary classics to new works - yet she always brings a bright sense of humor, a razor-sharp intellect, and an incredible emotional and physical range to every role she plays. In addition, Angela is a phenomenal, tireless collaborator in any ensemble, as well as a wonderful director.
This impressive list of her work is only part of Angela's contribution to the Theater at large. Angela is a born educator-artist, someone who works tirelessly to grow the next generation of practitioners in bold, new ways. She has taught in the Providence Public Schools, at the Breadloaf School of English at Middlebury College, at Clark University, and for the last decade, here at the Brown/Trinity MFA programs in Acting and Directing, where she was also the Director of Programs. Angela has been a leader in the field through the pandemic and in so many spaces for equity, justice, and anti-bias. She will soon be head of acting at Dean College, as she continues her lifelong pursuit of excellence in theatrical training.
In short, Angela is a true theater artist, someone whose contributions to the field are remarkable and who will not only add to the richness of your artist cohort but will also take away so much learning to bring back into her own extraordinary work. I cannot wait for you to meet and work with this extraordinary artist.
