Her Songs. Her Stories: Icons of the Stage explores the legacies of those heroic women whose mythic talents commanded audiences, while balancing obstacles all-too real: single motherhood, racial intolerance, marital infidelity and mental health, substance abuse, global war and a fickle public. They triumphed from pretty young thing to middle-aged powerhouse, from girl singer to businesswoman, from songwriter offstage to star center stage. Their songs, their stories. Lena Horne, Rosemary Clooney, Josephine Baker, Gertrude Lawrence, Carly Simon, and the ultimate mother/daughter show business tale, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli.
