Ronald Conner
Chicago Shakespeare Theater
Chicago, IL
I first became aware of Ron Conner shortly after I arrived in Chicago. He was playing Sir Toby Belch for us here at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. I was instantly struck by his depth of characterization, his technical skill with the text and his comic timing. I subsequently had the pleasure of directing Ron as Bardolph in Henry V. In this part he not only showed his range as he created a totally different character, but also his value as a member of a company. He is diligent, professional, incredibly talented and extraordinarily supportive of his colleagues. His wealth of experience I think makes him a great candidate and I feel he will use this opportunity to take his experience back into the community and influence others. I recently saw him in ‘Fat Ham’ at The Goodman where he showed his skill working with a modern text. He never stops working, so I feel this opportunity will be of huge benefit to Ron and to our wider creative community as we benefit from his development as an artist.
